Should people who participate in extreme sports such as mountain climbing be required to pay?

To pay for any search and/or rescue that might come from having to save them when something goes wrong? It has happened once again, hikers stuck on Mt. Hood. Others sent in to risk their lives rescuing them, at a huge cost to the taxpayer. Should there be some responsibility here? Should’nt these people be held accountable for their actions? What happens if they just end up causing a bunch of rescuers to end up getting killed-due to their negligence?

Instead of each individual who does get stuck being forced to mortgage their homes, causing financial hardship to their innocent wives/husbands and children, perhaps they should all have to pay "rescue insurance" – then there would be a fund of money available for the ones who do need to be rescued and it would offset the cost. It would be rather difficult to manage but certainly something that I think many would support.

Yes!!! They should have to foot the entire bill and be charged with any rescuers deaths.

Yes. Why should taxes be wasted on these people with a death wish?

Yes, if no laws are in place there should be. There should be a fine imposed that does not go to the government since secularism teaches to be all about yourself. The money should go into a fund that is given to families of people who risk there lives to serve and die while doing so. These people put their lives in danger for a legitimate reason …saving the life of another.
